They said,
"The first thing the blind man throws away
after receiving his sight
is the stick."

Some heard betrayal.

I heard applause.

The stick did not lose its place.
It completed its journey.

Every scratch upon its wood
became a step toward another's freedom.

A guide who fears being left behind
was never guiding—
only holding.

The best companions are those
who rejoice
when they are no longer needed.

For the purpose of love
is not to keep someone leaning on you...
but to watch them walk into the sunrise
on their own.
