Time will take pleasure tomorrow
like a song that fades with the wind

Time will take pain tomorrow
like rain that forgets where it’s been

Time will take people tomorrow
like footsteps lost in the sand

Time will take comfort tomorrow
like a fire that slips from your hands

Time may take money
and it may take health

It may take the body
and everything built

Time is a thief of the outside world
it takes what was never mine

But there are things
time cannot touch

Love is inside me
hate is inside me

Richness is inside me
misery is inside me

They don’t arrive
and they don’t leave

They wait

For me to hold them
or to let them go

People were never the source
they were only mirrors

Showing me love
showing me hate

But both were mine
long before their names

I can carry warmth
or I can carry fire

I can live in richness
or drown in misery

Not because time decides

But because I do

So let tomorrow take
whatever it wants

It can empty my hands

But it cannot touch
what I choose to hold inside
